in this collaboration the sound of the piano is analyzed and the energy of the sounds which elisabeth harnik improvises are redirected into alternative resonant structures. some of them for example extend the piano tuning in the direction of symmetrical microtonal scales. others come from models of physical objects, which do not have obvious musical pitches, e.g. gong-like sounds.
alberto de campo is a specialist on sound synthesis and music programming. from 1998-2000 for example he was guest researcher in electronic music and later research director at CREATE/UC santa barbara, where he developed experimental software instruments with curtis roads.
